Every day is a good day for a new beginning. This is a new day, a new week, and a new beginning for the Find the Fit Within website. And what better way to start it off than with a little TRX talk?
Do you TRX? Have you felt the amazing-ness that happens when you TRX?
Did you know you could have a new beginning by adding some TRX into your life?
TRX stands for Total Body Resistance Training. Don't ask me how that makes sense. I had no part in coming up with the name. I did, however, make the best decision of my life when I decided to learn all about it - so much about it that I wanted to become qualified to teach others how to use it.
What's the deal, you ask? The gist of it all is that you use these nylon straps hanging from an anchor point to leverage your bodyweight as you move through a wide range of movement (exercises), all the while being forced to brace and work the CORE muscles in a way that creates strength, stability, mobility, and pure awesomeness.
TRX is amazing for beginners because it allows you to offload tension when and where it's needed, all the while allowing you to work the movement pattern correctly and start building strength and stability. I have witnessed the recovery power it has wielded for post-rehab clients. I have watched it create stability and upper body strength in clients who were extremely frail and weak. TRX is amazing for intermediates, for it provides the ability to challenge you by simply moving your feet in relation to the anchor point. It builds all of the stabilizer muscles other forms of training seem to bypass. It gives you a way to grow your strength and improve your technique as you fight to control the movement of the straps as you exercise.
TRX is amazing for advanced fitness enthusiasts because it allows for isolated, single sided work to ensure equal strength on both sides. Advancing a movement from both feet on the floor to both feet elevated in the straps really blasts the core and challenges the entire body. Slowing movements down or speeding them up also makes it extremely challenging for even the most advanced athletes.
In fitness, I strongly believe in the importance of being able to master your own bodyweight. TRX takes this to an entirely new level and will make a believer of anyone who tries it. If you are accustomed to using machines in the weight room to build strength, maybe you would be up for a TRX challenge. Why use machines when you can make your body the machine?
